How to Pack a Diaper Bag Like a Pro

Are you the type of mom who tries to pack an item for every conceivable (and not-so-conceivable) outcome for your two-hour errand? An extra change of clothes. Sweater. Snacks. Drinks. Nursing cover. Burp cloth. Bibs. Backup bibs. Wipes. Pacifiers. Toys. And of course, diapers. Sigh. Cloth diapers do take up more precious diaper bag space than disposables.

It can drive a mama crazy, y’all.

Now that I have two kids I’ve really tried to become a minimalist when it comes to the diaper bag. Gone are the days of packing every little thing I could possibly need, because, ironically, that actually makes it hard to find the one thing I really do need at the moment I need it.

It’s all about finding the products that are the most versatile and useful for the amount of space they take up.

  1. My son is a year old now. I always pack three pocket diapers, wipes and diaper rash cream for emergency random rash attack which usually occurs when diapers are not properlly cleaned.
I dont ever bring extra clothes. Lol usually they sit in the car.
When he was a newborn I brought all sorts of shit.

  2. I usually keep 2 aios(we only use aio) and add more if we’ll be gone a while, wipes, ring sling, and snacks. Plus my wallet and sometimes a cup of water. that’s it!

  3. As a mom of 2 with bay #3 due in May, I’m about to have 2 in cloth. I almost never pack extra clothes unless we’ll be far from home all day or longer. I keep a packed wetbag in my car with wipes, a snappi, a Flip cover and a prefold. Ither than that, i have a large purse and bring a toy, jacket in winter and a cup and snack for my 20 month old.

The only thing I know will change with the addition of a newborn is more diapers in the car, maybe a pacifier and definitely a change of clothes.

I try to go minimal and keep anything i mught absolutely need (a blanket in winter for younger babies) in the car.

I plan to do a blog about how I pack for day and weekend trips soon!
